Future Cities Catapult are hosting a programme of free talks, workshops and training opportunities in Cardiff as part of Cardiff Innovation Week. The Future Cities Catapult is a global centre of excellence on urban innovation, a place where cities, businesses and universities develop together the solutions cities need for a strong economy, resilient environment and an improved quality of life.

The city’s leaders, SME’s, innovators, entrepreneurs, academics and urgent optimists are invited to meet members of the Future Cities team, forge new connections, and share ideas about the future of Cardiff.

Hosted at Tramshed Tech, this pop-up programme will include topics such as: City Standards, Future of Planning, Health and Mobility and SME engagement.

These sessions will be of interest to local authority data, digital teams, service and project managers, and innovation/transformation teams and SMEs.

The Agenda:

Monday, 24th April. 14:00 - 17:00:

An interactive session introducing city stakeholders to free leadership guides published by the FCC and the BSI. This session will introduce these standards, and two new and timely guides for data sharing in cities, in response to new GDPR, and on developing and delivering smart projects and proposals. Join us as we discuss emerging challenges in these areas and implications for Cardiff, what the guides set out to address and how you can use them in practice.

Tuesday, 25th April, 13:00-14:30:

Big data, artificial intelligence and visualisation are transforming the way that people process and interpret information, but the methods used by many cities to plan new developments creak with age and inefficiency. Join this interactive discussion to hear from those working on transformation of the planning system and the implications for planning and development in Cardiff and across South Wales.

Wednesday 26th April, 17:00-18:30:

This session will explore how cities can harness new technologies and approaches to mitigate the negative health impacts of city life and maximise the benefits. Join this free event as we explore cities as enablers of health and wellbeing and the opportunities for Cardiff.
