Through its European Green Deal, the Commission is hoping to boost the renovation of buildings across the EU
According to the Commission, buildings are responsible for 40% of the energy consumption and 36% of EU greenhouse gas emissions, so a more energy-efficient building stock is good for the planet too!
Identified as one of the priorities in the Commission's recent Recovery Package due to its high job creation and investment potential, the proposed Renovation Wave aims to increase the rate and quality of renovation of existing buildings and thereby help decarbonise the building stock.
Through this consultation, the Commission is seeking feedback on how this could be done, through regulation, policy and financial instruments. It would like to hear your views: do you see any barriers to building renovation? Do you have any suggestions on how to target the worst performing buildings? What do you feel are the smart technologies for transforming today’s buildings into the buildings of the future?
