What is a cyber-attack?

Cyber security is a hot topic; it’s in the news and on the minds of business owners around the globe. Recent attacks raise the question, what actually is a cyber-attack? In simple terms, it’s essentially an attempt by an individual or group to compromise a computer system, network or device with the intention of causing harm.

The average cost of a major security breach is between £65,000 and £115,000 and government figures estimate a cyber-attack can result in a business being put out of action for up to 10 days. Last year Beaming suggested that cyber-crime is on the rise, with 2.9 million UK organisations being hit by a cyber-attack last year at a cost of £29.1 billion. The extent of the problem has resulted in ‘solutions to cyber-attacks’ becoming one of the most searched for terms on the web.

This on-going problem needs addressing and the Enterprise Europe Network is here to support businesses that wish to tackle the concern and reap the benefits in return.

Where does the Enterprise Europe Network come in?

As we've blogged about before when talking about clusters, we taken clients to meet potential partners at a brokerage event at Cyber Security Week jointly organised by EEN and the Dutch Cyber Security cluster, Delta Hague.

The Network is a free-of-charge database available for you to use to search for SME and academic partners to manufacture, distribute, co-develop and supply your products, ideas and services. We currently have 35 live opportunities relating to cyber security.

It’s easy to use and it works in three steps; firstly search our global partnership database to find relevant opportunities, and then express your interest by telling us about your company and finally we will collate responses and introduce matched partners to each other. Click here to view our partnering database.
