A webinar for UK digital healthcare SMEs to learn about South Korea’s K-Digital New Deal programme and the opportunities to access this market.
On 28 September, a Digital Health Opportunities in South Korea webinar offers a chance for UK SMEs operating in digital health to learn more about South Korea’s K-Digital New Deal programme and its smart medical healthcare investment projects. It will also enable UK SMEs looking to access and develop international relationships and connections in this fast-growing, high-tech market.
This webinar is being delivered as part of the current digital health Global Business Innovation Programme which will now travel to South Korea in 2021. It is anticipated that a second cohort will be funded by Innovate UK later in 2021, so this event will provide useful information and background knowledge to companies who may wish to apply.
This webinar is aimed at UK SMEs operating in digital health with a particular focus on: big data & AI, diagnostics, chronic diseases, telemedicine, system efficiency and P4 medicine.
Investment in digital health in South Korea’s “K-Deal”
Few world leaders have responded more effectively to the global pandemic than South Korea’s Moon Jae-in. An early adopter of track and trace, the country was successful in containing the virus and has now prioritised economic recovery with the new, Roosevelt-styled “K-deal”. Under the plan, South Korea will invest 160 trillion won (£102bn) to create 1.9 million jobs by 2025 in the digital and green sectors.
Digital health, already one of four pillars in Moon’s pre-pandemic ‘Fourth Industrial Revolution’ plan, will benefit from a further surge of investment and bring its estimated worth to US$5.4bn by the end of 2020.
Since taking office in 2017, Moon has driven a programme of deregulation in the sector, enabling businesses such as Samsung to diversify with international partnerships, while encouraging overseas companies to enter the market. A country known for being high-tech and digitally connected and with a culture of early adoption, South Korea is relaxing regulations in telemedicine to create exceptional opportunities for UK SMEs developing digital healthcare technologies.
There's a huge wealth of knowledge about South Korea and its digital healthcare market among the speakers at the webinar. They include:
Gareth Davies – Head of Science, Innovation and Energy at the British Embassy Seoul. Gareth manages the UK-Republic of Korea science and technology R&D relationships.
Logan Yoon, Klimax Group.
The Digital Health Opportunities in South Korea's 'New K-Deal era' takes place on Monday 28th September at 8am-10.15am.
