The EU’s Eco-design Directive can be difficult for small businesses to understand and use to their advantage. This brochure simplies it all.
The Eco-design directive provides EU-wide rules for improving the environmental performance of products, such as household appliances, information and communication technologies or engineering. It sets out minimum mandatory requirements for energy efficiency.
Portuguese companies have been fortunate. Our EEN partner, Laboratório Nacional de Energia e Geologia, a consortium responsible for energy and resources management and sustainability, has written a brochure, Diretiva eco-design - Documentos de apoio às empresas.
It has also been translated into English for companies here wanting to explore eco-design methodology.
Titled ‘Eco-design Directive – Guide for Business’, it offers an introduction to the concept and methodology of eco-design and how to implement it. It also gives an overview of related services provided by EEN.
But, with all the interest being shown by SMEs across Europe in the brochure, we thought at EEN in the South West that the English translation could be improved.
So I got together with Joao Henriques, of LNEG, and Sonja Angloher-Reichelt, Chair of the Intelligent Energy Sector Group to develop an English version in booklet form.
We hope it will be of real benefit to EEN members across the network. To see an EEN partner go above and beyond to create this really speaks to the level of companies and consortiums we help and how willing they all are to help each other.
Let’s hope that this brochure will be the just start of a long line of publications aimed at helping businesses at sector level.
And here it is...
