The European Commission have launched a consultation to define an approach on fair taxation of the digital economy.

The European Commission claims that a new system is needed, in order to get a fairer and more effective taxation system that will support public revenue and make for a level playing field across businesses. It would like to define an approach to the taxation of the digital economy.
