A Northern German SME has developed a software solution, enabling companies to interact with consumers (B2C) or with external experts and business partners (B2B) for open innovation and co-creation processes and is successfully running business in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. To increase international activities, the SME is looking for distribution partners or licensees related to innovation consulting, innovation management, product and business model development in Europe.

Consumers have dramatically changed their own understanding of consumption role - many are no longer interested in only consuming products, they want to share their opinions about products and discuss alternatives and improvements via social networks. They see and position themselves as “influencers”, “trend-setters” and/or “opinion leaders”. A minority goes beyond and acts as so-called “prosumers”. They produce by themselves their own products or adapt existing solutions to their own needs. Using and streamlining this societal impetus, a software development company from Northern Germany set up a solution to enable companies to interact with interested consumers, managing a crowdsourcing community platform to develop ideas and innovations by using the perspectives, expertise and knowledge from the creative community. The platform can as well be used for open innovation and co-creation processes with a b2b-community of specific external experts, customers and business partners. This customer orientated approach is a valuable complement to internal innovation systems, as it not only supports innovation development but also evaluation of ideas with regard to their market relevance on the basis of defined criteria. Current customers come from a broad variety of sectors, the mayority are corporates and larger medium-sized companies. The company offers licensing of a white label solution of the community platform software including related services with two major, unique modules: (1) Automated active screening software and recruiting approach for the recruiting of consumers, lead users, opinion leaders and experts in social networks/partner communities to increase and specialize the community for each innovation project running on the innovation platform (2) Consolidation and integration of the consumers or b2b-partners via an innovation community software with a digital and iterative innovation process for collaborative innovation development and testing among a “crowd” of people. To increase international sales, the company is looking for longterm cooperation with distribution partners and licensees in Europe, especially targeting Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Netherlands and Czech Republic in a first step. Cooperation partners should have a background related to innovation consulting, innovation management, product or business model development. Also companies offering complementary software or market research institutions could be interesting partners. Partners may expand their portfolio and offer the crowd innovation platform to their clients in combination to their own consulting and support services, receiving a sales provision agreed on in a distribution services agreement. The company also offers cooperation in form of license agreements to partners, who would like to offer the software solution to their clients customized to their own corporate identity.
