Solar collector with increased thermal efficiency
A German inventor has designed a highly effective solar collector. The advantage over existing flat-plate collectors is that even at high temperatures the heat generated at the absorber by incident solar radiation does not escape into the environment through the covering panel. Nearly all incident solar energy is collected. Heat from the surroundings can be taken in. The heat can be used for thermal engines, heat pumps or for getting process heat. The inventor looks for a license agreement.

With increasing temperatures common flat solar collectors lose a great deal of the collected heat by heat transfer through the covering panel. Useful heat can only be gained to a certain temperature level not much higher than boiling water. To get heat with a higher temperature level with minimal losses a German private inventor has designed a new kind of solar collector with retransfer of heat. Heated air from the absorber is conducted back with slightly higher pressure and temperature into tubes fixed behind the absorber. In this way the temperature of the heated air can increase with every new circle up to temperatures of about 300° C. Heat transfer to the covering panel and into the surroundings is prevented by a transparent heat insulation consisting of glass tubes formed in rectangular cross section. Air streams through narrow slits between the tubes and takes up the heat spreading in the direction of the covering panel. The heated air can be compressed by a mechanical compressor or by a jet pump. The energy to run these devices is gained by the heat produced in the collector itself. Compressor or jet pump must only be applied once for a row of collectors. The German inventor is looking for an industrial manufacturer of solar collectors (ideally with good contacts to a research institute) who is interested in licensing and further developing the technology and finally bringing it to market.
