System for improving accessibility in learning platforms by using push buttons for people with different motor capacities
A computer engineering research group from a Spanish university presents a system that improves the accessibility to learning platforms, through an automatic or manual scanning controlled by push buttons, very useful in the education sector, specifically for people with different motor capacities. They are looking for partners, with no preferred location, to establish technical cooperation agreements, license agreements or commercial agreements with technical assistance.
The researchers are looking for companies in electronic engineering, telecommunications, audiovisual technology and computing, companies that develop learning platforms, companies that develop computer peripherals and adapted devices, academies or training centers, interested in reaching technical cooperation agreements, license agreements or commercial agreements with technical assistance.
At present, students with mobility problems can’t access the teaching material published on the learning platforms, due to their inability to move the computer mouse and / or conventional keyboards. The object of the invention developed by a computer engineering research group from a Spanish university is to provide a technical solution for the improvement of accessibility in online education. The present invention therefore relates to a hardware and software system, ergonomic and adapted to the needs of people with reduced motor functional capacity, consisting of the creation and control of a scanning applied to a learning platform, which allows them to access to the information provided by a learning platform through a push button system. The adapter receives the information from the push buttons and adapts it to the computer interface. The software part generates an automatic or manual scanning managed by the pushbuttons, whose speed and sound are configurable. This system provides students access to the menu offered by the platform, allowing them to reach the information by using two different types of virtual buttons or push buttons: - Virtual buttons: they appear on the computer screen and offer the settings of the scanning speed and the activation or deactivation of the sound. - The physical buttons form the access adapted to the ergonomics of the student since they can be easily pressed.
Advantages and innovations
- Creation and control of a scanning applied to a learning platform. - Joint action of a scanner and a system of push buttons for interaction with the computer in the learning platforms and the possibility of adaptation for any Web application for people with different capacities of motor origin. - The system offers the possibility of executing the scanning in automatic or manual mode. - It uses large ergonomic push-buttons so that they can be used by people who present a high level of difficulty in the movement of hands or upper extremities. - It implements energy saving by automatically detecting the ambient light level and conveniently switching the buttons off or on. In addition, the way of working of the microcontroller entails an energy saving to maintain usually in sleep, waking up periodically for the tasks completion. - The cost of the final development and the subsequent commercial exploitation will be low.

- We put the right partners in touch
EEN help you find the right partner, rather than you going it alone.
Our role is to review and collate the most suitable submissions, and then send them to the client who posted the opportunity. We consult with you, and the client, to make the process professional and easy.
These are live opportunities. Your registration of interest on the site is just like a professional approach to a business at a networking event. To stand the best chance of success, make your submission really sing. Sell why the client who posted the opportunity should work with you. Excite them. Ask questions. Try and avoid copy and pasting words from elsewhere.
Once the client has chosen their partner, we'll introduce them over email and keep in touch with both parties to see how it's going. Sometimes things progress quickly. Sometimes because of changing priorities for either party, things progress slowly, but you never know - your next big business break could start right here.
